On Saturday 1 February 2025, the 10th and last Jan Pustjens Focus Day will be organized by us at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with the theme 'Drums of the World'. That promises a lot of beautiful things!
On the occasion of the anniversary, a book will be published in which interviews with all the masters of the ten Jan Pustjens Focus Days are included. In it, they look back on their experiences and also give their view on the future of percussion.
In 2018, The Jan Pustjens Foundation visited the TROMP percussion competition to hand out a special prize to further support a young talent.
The prize was given to Elliott Gaston-Ross. We would like to wish him all the best in his promising career and musical journey!
Impressions by Laura Hermanides of the 3rd Jan Pustjens Focus Day on 28 January 2018 in the Bernard Haitinkzaal of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
A trip to Hiroshima and Tokyo, a special meeting with Keiko Abe.
On Thursday, April 12, 2018, we (my mother, Ramon Lormans, and I) arrived in Hiroshima after a long journey. We were picked up by a mother of one of the ensemble members of the Hiroshima Junior Marimba Ensemble. The people from the organization were very attentive, sweet and wanted everything to go according to plan.
JP Focus Day 2018, on January 28, was a very successful day that was dedicated to a unique masterclass by Zoltán Rácz and was an example of inspiring collaboration between the various ensembles of Dutch conservatories.
